You sighed as you stood in front of a building. It had been a week since it was on your mind, and you finally decided today was the day. You weren’t sure if you were still ready for this, but it was worth a shot. You held the small silver doorknob and twisted it, slowly opening the door. Your (colour) eyes widened in awe. The place wasn’t huge, but it wasn’t small either. It was the perfect size for a sweet café.

The room was filled with many small tables for up to four people all scattered around the place. The walls were painted in a nice light green colour, while the curtains were in the same tint but in a darker tone. On the back of the restaurant, you could see two big doors, in which you assumed it led to the kitchen.

Pallet Café was well known in this town. Practically everyone from the nearby city would spend their time relaxing with some cool drinks or cups of coffee during the week. Mostly young women would since four handsome boys, also known as your neighbours and close friends, work there after school.

A man who looked in his fifties walked to you with a concerned look.

“May I help you?”

You jumped at the sudden voice and blinked your eyes a couple of times, before fixing them at the elderly man in front of you. “I’m looking for the owner.” And that was when it clicked. “You must be him.”

“That’s right,” he nodded his head. “And you must be (First name). My grandson talked a lot about you.”

“Green told me I can work here. So I came to ask you if I can.”

“Well, we do need a waitress, practically all of them are men. You’re in. Can you start now?”

“I’m ready,” you replied with a bright smile. Mr. Oak then led you to the staff room so you could change into your uniform.

***

You looked yourself in the mirror as you admired the outfit. It consisted of a white blouse with short sleeves and a black skirt which went down to your knees, so your legs were still exposed, not that you actually cared or even noticed. You had to tie your hair in a neat bun, so people wouldn’t find strings of hair in their food. You took one final glance at your reflection before violently opening the door. You closed your eyes and immediately covered your ears as you heard a loud crash. Everyone turned their attention to where the sudden sound came from. You slowly opened your eyes and walked out of the staff room, only to curse under your breath as you realised what had just happened. It was your first day and you already broke God knows how many plates and glasses.

You thought things couldn’t get worse, but you were wrong once you realised who you had knocked over.

“I’m so sorry Silver!” you cried in panic. “Are you alright?”

The red haired boy opened his grey eyes and rubbed his head as he winced in pain. “Do I look okay? What the hell woman!” he growled as he sat up.

You kneeled to his side and helped him by cleaning the pieces of glass. “I said I was sorry. Oh, and it’s nice to see you here,” you added mockingly.

Your hot-headed friend sent you a menacing glare with his silver orbs, clearly showing he wasn’t in the mood for sarcasm. You both got up after finishing cleaning, and before the both of you could say anything, a familiar voice interrupted you.

“(Nickname)! You finally came!”

As you were about to turn, you were suddenly tackled to the ground by another friend. He kept on nuzzling in the crook of your neck, making you giggle and a certain boy feel utter jealousy.

“Gold! Stop! It tickles!”

The raven haired boy stopped and gave you a goofy grin before he got up and helped you. “You look pretty in that waitress uniform,” he said with a playful wink.

“Thanks,” you replied with a smile, making both males blush slightly. “So, where are Green and Red?”

“They’re doing their homeworks over there,” said Gold as he pointed at a table where two boys were sitting across from each other.

You smiled as you made your way to their table, Gold following you right behind with a wide smirk and a small nosebleed while Silver went back to the kitchen. The boy with black hair lifted his head up as he noticed his two friends approaching and waved at you with a warm smile despite his usual cold expression. The brunet sitting across from him didn’t seem to notice as he continued fixing his eyes on a rather difficult equation.

“Hey Red,” you chirped as you finally reached them and gave to the silent boy a hug.

His crimson eyes widened as he  seemed surprised at first, since he was never the type of guy to like getting physical affection. But he eventually hugged you back by awkwardly wrapping his arms around your shoulders and lightly patting your back, liking the feeling of your warmth, and probably your breasts touching his chest... His face matched his name at the thought of that, and quickly shook his head and pulled away from the hug, trying to get rid of that awful thought.

Gold shortly left after you and Red pulled apart, not wanting to get in trouble by making the clients even hungrier. You awkwardly stood there for five minutes in front of the table, still waiting for your brunet friend to notice you and welcome you in his grandfather’s restaurant. Knowing your friend, you didn’t want to bother him since he was a very hard-working student.

He finally finished the problem as he took a deep sigh and lifted his head up, staring at his best friend. Red sheepishly grinned and pointed at you. The brunet gave him a confused look, before turning his head towards the same direction as Red’s index finger. He blushed as his eyes immediately fixed yours.

“Oh (First name), didn’t know you were there,” he said as he quickly went back to his always cool expression.

“Hey Green,” you replied with a wide smile. “It’s okay. I know you’re busy with your homework.”

“So I see you finally accepted my offer.”

“That’s right.”

“Well, since you’re a waitress now, mind getting us some drinks? I’ll be honored to be your first client,” Green said with a wide smirk. Red lightly chuckled and copied his best friend’s smirk, which was so out of his character.

You mentally face palmed your forehead, thinking you should have seen that coming. You couldn’t deny though, since it was now your job. “Sure, what would you like, gentlemen?” you asked politely, though there was a hint of sarcasm.

“Some coffee with milk for me please. And just some water with ice for Red,” Green replied, his smirk still pastered on his handsome face.

“Coming right up,” you said as you noted his order and left them, a wide smile curving your lips.

***

Two hours had passed since you had started working and you were already getting the hang of it. Some good-looking young men would stare at you from time to time and keep calling you for random reasons such as asking you to bring them soft drinks or just chat with you since one of them was a classmate of yours named Calem. He’s a nice guy, and like your four friends, is also interested in you. But he was still quite unware of you being thick-headed. Silver and Gold would sometimes team up to pull you away from the french boy and his friends for reasons you ignored though Calem eventually noticed what was going on.

“Have you done the French homework yet? I could help you with that if you want,” said Calem before he took a sip of his cold drink.

You were about to reply when you suddenly heard an all-too-familiar growl. You then felt an arm wrapped around your shoulder, pulling you a little closer to a familiar body.

“Sorry Frenchy, but she already has someone else,” said Silver.

You blinked a few times, confused, and looked up to see the redhead giving Calem an icy glare. You didn’t dare look into his silvery eyes any longer. You managed to speak up after a few minutes of silence. “Umm… Silver? You don’t take French lessons…”

“I didn’t say it was me, stupid,” he grunted as he pulled away and gave you a scowl, a softer one though.

“Hey! That’s no way to call a beautiful lady!” Calem shouted in your defence, though you didn’t really care since it became a habit.

“I didn’t say whe was ugly. I just said she was stupid.” Silver then turned to you with a stoic expression. “No offense.”

“You know, even though you said ‘no offense’ doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t feel offended.”

“Whatever.” He rolled his shining grey eyes. “There’s a woman and a child waiting for taking their order at table n°4, mind being their server? I hate kids.”

“You’re not the boss of me.” You frowned at Silver. “And what the hell? You’re a kid yourself.”

“Says the girl who’s actually younger and shorter than me.”

“By only one year… and inch,” you mumbled quietly.

***

After finishing your argument with Silver which ended up being pointless, you made your way to table n°4. You could see a woman with soft blue eyes and dark brown hair sitting across from who you assumed was her son, a young boy with dark black hair and light blue eyes. You could recognise the little boy’s face anywhere.

“Told you I’ll keep my promise,” was the first thing you said as you were finally in front of them.

The young woman lifted her head up from the menu and immediately flashed you a smile as she recognised you as well. She was about to say something but got interrupted as you were tackled to the floor. You let out a yelp while the little boy giggled in glee.

“Dylan!” his mother yelled.

The five year old boy gave his mother an innocent smile and looked back at you with his light blue eyes full of curiosity. “Sorry. But I missed you so much (First name)!” he shouted.

You laughed a little as he got off and went back to his seat. The mother let out sigh.

“I missed you too, kiddo.” You smiled back at Dylan.

***

"And what do you think you’re doing? Your shifts aren’t over yet.” Green crossed his arms over his chest and quirked an eyebrow.

“Shh! This is way more important,” Gold whispered as he and Silver kept on spying at you from Green and Red’s table.

“Don’t tell me you guys are jealous of that little boy.”

“Oh no she didn’t!” Silver gasped.

“What? What happened?”

Red rolled his eyes as Green started to suddenly get interested.

“(First name) just kissed that brat’s forehead.” The redhead gritted his teeth in irritation.

And just like that, the silent boy joined too.

Hey guys! Looks like I'm getting the hang of this new 'series' XD I noticed many of you like this idea and I really appreciate your supports :D so thank you!
Calem makes his first appearance (although he will actually make his debut in a chapter that takes place before this one) and of course, he will return. Like the other four boys, he is determined to get you and will never give up.
Little Dylan appears again :D he seems to get the most attention from Reader but he's still innocent <3
Hope you like it :D
Picture, Red, Green, Gold, Silver, Calem and you don't belong to me
Dylan and story belong to me :)

Like Silver, I can't stand kids. But no matter what I do, if I see a child and sense that something's wrong, this motherly instinct takes over me and I can't do anything about it.
